If Spring Doesn’t Motivate You, Check Your Pulse

Hey San Antonio,

I know, I know. We live in a region of the country where there are two seasons – deathly hot and warm. Hey, that’s one of the reasons I chose to make San Antonio my home, so trust me when I say I’m not complaining.

I realize that the new year presents a “new beginning” and people are motivated, but the weather isn’t quite pleasant enough for most people to enjoy waking up an hour earlier to go get a workout in – right now, it’s already in the high 50s and early 60s by 5am, so the cold is not an excuse – but if a real physical change is what you’re interested in, you won’t look at things like weather or month of the year as a reason not to do what you need to do to get where you want to be.

As I was looking at my schedule for today, the last day of my 33rd year on this earth (tomorrow is my birthday :), I was thinking about the different training styles I’ll be using today: I have clients that will be working at an extremely high intensity level, some that will train like power lifters, young men preparing for athletic competition that will be utilizing plyometrics and explosive lifts, along with individuals that are just looking to improve their fitness, get ready for a wedding, or just look and feel better that I may use a variety of these styles with them. There’s no one size fits all routine, and an experienced/knowledgeable fitness trainer should know when to use which style to help each client get the most out of their routines. Notice I said when – because training within different strength, repetition and recovery thresholds is an extremely useful tool in both health/fitness enhancement and, of course, in rapid body transformation.

I have a very full slate of clients today, but I will make the time to update the Caveman Lifestyle Program Page, as I really want to get the grocery list for the different phases on the page.

You DO still have time to get leaner, more toned and defined – pool, lake, river and beach weather will be here before you know it. Don’t wait!
