8 Week Program Workouts for First Week of Program
Hey San Antonio and beyond,
Here’s the first workout to be done 3 times per week in the eight week program. Sorry it’s a couple of days late, but I have been completely swamped. The range of reps simply means find a weight you can do the minimum rep range with and heavy enough you can’t go over the max. Warm up with 6-10 minutes of light cardio work (this does not count as a cardio workout) and then do a warm up set or two for each exercise. I’d prefer a day off between training, but since it’s Wednesday, get three in however you can (my fault). I’ll be quicker for the rest of the program, promise. :D
Rest 45-60 seconds between sets.
free weight bb squat 4 sets x 10-15 reps
flat db bench press 4 sets x 8-12 reps
lateral db raises 2 sets x 15-20 reps
Cable Lat Pulldowns 4 sets x 10-15 reps
Face Pulls 2 sets x 12-15 reps
Standing DB lunges 3 sets x 10 reps each leg
Tricep V-Bar Pressdowns 2 sets x 25 reps
Superset last set by bench dips until failure
Easy bar curl 3 sets x 15-20 reps
Your choice of ab exercise 25-100 reps (make it hurt)

How Is My Personal Training Studio Different Than a Typical Gym?
Hey San Antonio,
This is a question that a lot of people ask when they contact me. They ask me to compare our services and environment to Lifetime or Spectrum. Well, we are a private personal training studio that specializes in just that: personal fitness. We don’t have 30-45 people in here working out – just my personal trainers and our clients. We have a very well-equipped personal training studio – I actually used my studio to prepare for my last bodybuilding show, and it worked quite well. :) Most clients find that we have just the right combination of free weights, machines, cables, cardio and other types of equipment to get the most out of your personal training program. There’s no type of training program that we aren’t equipped to execute.
Also, they ask what separates me and my personal trainers from personal trainers at larger fitness centers such as Gold’s Gym, Lifetime Fitness or Bally’s Fitness, and I’m going to leave that to a video blog for the answer.

San Antonio Personal Training Studio Expansion: Phase 1
Hey San Antonio,
I’m in the process of expanding my personal training studio into a larger area and increasing the amount of training equipment that I have, and today began phase 1 of this process. Today, I added three new pieces of cardio equipment (we now have 3 ellipticals and 3 treadmills). We also have another elliptical machine and two recumbent bikes that we’ll be adding when we move into our larger space (same strip center, just a few doors down).
Remember that my personal training studio is a completely private studio, and “member traffic” is not our goal – however, we do focus on providing all of our clients a wide variety of equipment to ensure their body transformation journey stays fresh and exciting.

If you’re looking for a way to get in shape with a friend or loved one and a less expensive way to join our highly successful one on one personal training programs, here is your chance. Now, you and a partner can train together at our one on one rate. Whether your goals and conditions are completely different or similar, it doesn’t matter – I am very accustomed to training using different styles for different people during the same workout. Of course, you must train together, but both individuals receive full nutritional guidance (as all of my clients do). You also receive exact direction on what to do when you’re not in the gym with your personal trainer.

Recipes: STEAK – It’s What For Dinner!
Hey San Antonio,
Here’s a good, simple steak recipe, no grill required (but if you have a grill, USE IT!)
New York Strip Steak
Ingredients:
2 grassfed New York strip steaks
1 Tbsp salt
1 1/2 tsp pepper
4-6 crushed garlic cloves
Or 2 tsp garlic powder
2-3 Tbsp olive oil
Preparation:
Select grassfed steaks approximately 1″ thick.Remove from refrigerator.Combine: crushed garlic, salt, pepper.Brush steaks with olive oil on both sides.Rub spices into meat.Let set at room temperature for about an hour.Place steaks on rack in a roasting pan.Turn heat in broiler compartment to low (about 170 degrees, if your range is equipped for it.)After about 15 minutes, turn steaks over.Remove when internal temperature on meat thermometer shows
135° for rare
150° for medium
160° for well done
This recipe will also work for Kansas City strip steaks, strip steak, or club, T-bone, porterhouse, sirloin, and rib steak.
