Hey San Antonio,

I like to browse personal training sites from around San Antonio, from other cities in Texas and in the US. I always enjoy reading testimonials from real people and am happy that individuals are making progress with their personal trainers.

I want to take it a step further. If I say it, it’s bragging. If someone else says it? Well, that’s what I’m offering.

If you’d like a reference, I’ll give you more than a quote, an email or a phone number – I will invite you into my studio to meet real clients that have made real progress. These are real people, just like you that:

-Lost 10″ of abdominal circumference in 14 weeks
-is a 62 year old female that went from a 30″ waist to a 24″ waist in 7 weeks.
-27 year old mother of 3 (with a newborn) that went from 36% body fat to sub 20 in under 4 months.

Real transformations, like this one:
C Before
C After (1)

This took place in under 3 months.

The numbers and transformations are real, and if you’re interested, I will give you the opportunity to spend a few minutes with these clients and let them tell you what you can expect from me as your personal trainer and let you know what YOU can accomplish as far as fat loss, muscle gain, while boosting confidence and improving your own health.

It isn’t easy, and it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but the results ARE attainable. There are no magic pills, no fad dieting, and no bs theories – just experience combined with a scientific approach to fitness training and nutrition.

If you’re interested, contact me at anytime:

21 Days Away: Obsession? Maybe…

Posted in bodybuilding,Motivation,Personal Fitness Revolution,Personal Training,San Antonio Related by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 31st, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

Last night was a first. I had a very busy day planned today, but first on the list was getting some quality sleep last night, because I had a very busy week. I woke up to get a drink of water at roughly 220am, and was WIDE awake. Knowing that I had a ton to do today, I decided that I might as well go to my personal training studio and workout. So, at 230am, I was on my way to do legs.

I didn’t just do legs, I had one of the best workouts of my entire prep over the last 13 weeks. I then had a huge bowl of oatmeal, 10 egg whites and slept for a few hours, woke up again and did cardio for an hour.

I’ve NEVER woke up in the middle of the night and worked out, but I simply couldn’t miss an opportunity to get it done and I felt it.

I’m completely ready – 3 weeks from right now, I’ll be waiting to be called out for my weight class and division for the evening portion of the Lackland Bodybuilding Classic.

Unstoppable. Obsessed. Driven. Motivated.

I cannot wait.

Twenty Three Days Until Lackland Bodybuilding Classic

Posted in bodybuilding,Motivation,Personal Training,San Antonio Related by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 29th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

I’m 23 days out from my bodybuilding show. I’m aching. I’m tired. I have a sore throat. I have a strained hip flexor. I’m pumped up as hell…

The aches and pains mean nothing. As I said before, it’s mental now, not physical.

In my mind, this is the playoffs – I have to play and win everyday to get to the championship.

I will not be denied. That’s the way I’ve attacked everything in my life, and there’s no way in hell a little fatigue or ache is going to slow me down.

Nothing stands in your way – conquer all.

What a Day, BUT…

Posted in bodybuilding,Motivation by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 28th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

Today started quite early for me. Up just after 5am, training soon thereafter. Nothing different than a normal day, but I basically trained straight through until after 7 (I did get a nice workout in at 9am), did my cardio, and got home just to start getting ready for tomorrow.

On November 21, I will be on that bodybuilding stage. Bodybuilding is a 24/7 thing – every meal, every step on the treadmill or pedal on the bike/elliptical machine, every workout matters, especially during the prep period. This is something I want, and I’m not going to be stop.

Once the mind is made up, the body will follow. Everyone has a job. Many people have children, burdens, personal conflicts, a selfish significant other, pains, aches or any other multitude of obstacles. But they’re just that: obstacles, not excuses. Focus, make up the mind, and go after what it is you want, whether it’s fat loss, a promotion, or making a relationship work.

You make the rules and you control your world. Time to bust out of that comfort zone and make it happen.

I Could Never Say Enough…

Posted in bodybuilding,Motivation,Personal Fitness Revolution,Personal Training,San Antonio Related by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 28th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

I realize that 99% of the people that want to lose fat and make a body transformation actually ever want to get on a bodybuilding stage and compete. I say without hesitation that the only reason you would diet like a bodybuilder in prep is if you were a bodybuilder in prep and wanted to get on stage. There are varying degrees of nutrition, and in my opinion, amazing transformation doesn’t require the monotony of eating boiled chicken breasts and brown rice, egg whites and oatmeal or protein powder every single meal.

Of course, I’ve been in prep since early August and it has been the topic of discussion here on my blog for much of that time span. I’ve managed to remain completely focused: no skipped workouts (including cardio), no missed meals and absolutely no cheat foods. Now, I’m like a robot and it’s just what I do day in and day out, and will be doing for the next 24 days. I typically eat healthy as it is, but this is a whole different level.

Also, bodybuilding is the epitome of individual sports. On that stage in those skimpy trunks, the competitor is all alone. It’s up to the bodybuilder to say “I have to do this cardio” at 9pm. It’s up to the competitor to stay focused at his or her job while knowing a workout in a depleted dietary state is looming. If the competitor has a family, it is up to the competitor to still do his parental chores to make sure balance is kept in life.

With that being said, I have had an amazing level of support from so many people: my clients often ask me details and say things to keep me motivated and inspired. My 5 year old tells people that his daddy is going to do a “muscle show”. Clients offer to bring me “Speed Stacks”, my friends send me encouraging texts, quotes and tell me how proud they are of me. Although I know that on November 21, it will be me on the stage, I have a team: a full support staff of family, friends, clients, a chiropractor, a massage therapist, and people that I’ve never met on the internet that take the time to say a kind word that may carry me for days.

As far as my team goes, I want to first and foremost thank all of my clients. You guys have been amazingly supportive and YOUR motivation keeps me motivated and I could never let you guys and gals down. Maria (who WILL compete soon), Andy, Chade, Courtney, Cris, Vicki, Mary, Liz, Myrna, Claudia, Sandra, Chris, Liza, Ellen, Jeff, Esmeralda, Felicia, Sean, Tamara, Lauren, Tamara, and all of my boot campers: you guys absolutely ROCK and I am thankful for having you in my business and in my life.

Dan is a personal trainer that works here in my studio, and he’s been invaluable as well. He is around me more than anyone and keeps me laughing even when there’s no glucose in my brain (sorry for the delayed response). He has told all of his clients and they’re also insanely supportive. Thank you.

Hank, Greg, Jason, Aaron – I appreciate the not calling me to go out and party lol :)

Dr Otterman – keeping me straight (my back, that is). I go in, pain goes out. Best chiro in SATX, I’ve said it 10000 times.

Darren – He gets all of my fusses and complaints, and he is a poor Tech fan, but man, I appreciate you keeping your store (Alamo City Sports Nutrition in Stone Oak) stocked with exactly the protein, thermogenics, healthy fats, and pre-workout drinks I need to function!

Jeff and Mark T – I appreciate all of your advice and guidance. You’re the only two I ask for anything. We’ve laughed at all the people that give advice unsolicited, but you two are top notch.

Shelley and Mike – we’re in this together. Let’s all bring home some hardware!

Prince Harrison’s Optimum Fitness: Thanks to Mr Harrison, I’ll definitely have the nicest trunks on the stage! Awesome selection of products, coaching and videos. BEYOND Friendly.

To Peyton – even trying to convince me that Chuck E. Cheese is healthy, you’re still the greatest kid alive and you make daddy more and more proud everyday. Everything in this world I do is for you, my son, and I love you doesn’t quite cover it, little buddy.

Last but certainly not least, to Lisa – if this isn’t a team sport, I’d never know it by the support that you’ve given me. The kind word, the making sure I’m staying on track, offering to take care of absolutely everything so I can do my late night cardio, and most impressively, the dieting right along with me. I hope and pray I can be at least one half as supportive as we prepare you to compete in April for your first show (bikini or figure, whichever you decide). I am lucky to have had you come into my life, put up with my foolishness and I love you with all of my heart

The countdown is beyond here – it’s 24 days away and I feel as good as I did mentally and physically as I ever have in my entire life. Let’s DO THIS!!!

Inspiration

Posted in Uncategorized by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 27th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

Just browsed through a few emails from my boot camp class attendees, and damn, they’re motivating ME even more. We have a couple of groups that are really serious about making life changes and using this as an awesome starting point to not only transform their bodies, but transform their lives.

Group training is definitely a motivating way to transform, while being accountable to the rest of the trainees. I’m excited for my classes because I know the sky is the limit and they have taken their first steps toward fat loss!!!

San Antonio Fitness Boot Camp Is In Full Effect

Posted in General,Other,Personal Fitness Revolution,Personal Training,San Antonio Related,Training by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 27th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

It has started – first 2 days of classes went off without a hitch. Sure, it was a little chilly this morning, but we started off outside and after some intense cardio and calisthenics, we moved inside and hit the weights. Great workout for everyone!

I am already looking to add more boot camp and group training classes quickly due to demand. Classes are $20 per each per person/per session. Boot Camp sessions are one hour long.

All boot camp attendants get full dietary guidance – this is by far your most economical (and aggressive) opportunity to transform your body completely!

Drop me an email at boyd@the-personal-trainer.com or give me a call at 210.391.1454 for more information.

We All Have The Same 24… It’s What You Do With Them.

Posted in General,Motivation,Other,Personal Training by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 26th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

Someone actually just wrote this to me:

“I’m just trying to figure out how you get days with 38 hours in them, and mine only have 24. LOL.

Training, working out, blogging, eating, sleeping, boot camping, time with GF, time with Peyton, etc. Talk about time management. Keep up the good work.”

Unfortunately, I haven’t figured out how to cross the space-time continuum and create more hours in a day, but I do value every single hour the same. Some people treat their hours differently: they wake up frantically, go to work, hammer down, may relax at lunch, hang out right after work, etc.

There’s always something to do (and that includes spending time with your family and loved ones). An hour at work is no different than an hour in the evening. For example, I do cardio every single night to get ready for my competition – there are no exceptions. If I’m tired, worked late, etc, it does not matter. I have to do it.

I make it a point to keep my blog updated because it helps my business, as many people come in and tell me that they’ve been long time readers and they feel as if they know me.

I do everything for my business: I am my own administrative clerk, accountant, I shop, and I am my own IT guy.

Have I mentioned that I eat 8-12 times per day? Of course, many times it’s rushed.

I like being busy. I like going to bed each night knowing that I accomplished as much as possible and time wasn’t wasted.

Prioritize: not having time to change your body is not acceptable – it is nothing more than an excuse and excuses are for the weak.

If you look for time, you will not find it – YOU have to make it happen.

My Three Most Common Protein Shake Recipes

Posted in bodybuilding,Nutrition,Personal Training,Recipes by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 26th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

Three simple protein recipes that I’m using right now.

Cinnamon and Oats

Vanilla Pro Complete 40
Quaker Oats
Ground Cinnamon

This is the shake I like to make in the morning, but you can make the vanilla with just the cinnamon and it is just as tasty for an evening snack.

I do not cook the oats in my shake – just measure and add to the blender. HOW much of each ingredient is based on your size and goals, of course. Add ice! Tastes great.

Mint Chocolate Smoothie

Crushed Mint (Seasoning Form) or Mint Extract
Chocolate Pro Complete 40

Of course, you can add oats if you need carbs. Same instructions as above!

“Peanut” – butter Cup

Chocolate Pro Complete 40
Almond Butter (or all natural Peanut butter)

Same instructions, but I add the water before I add the almond or peanut butter. Adjust the amounts to manipulate macronutrient ratio.

These are all simple. Again, oats can be added to any, but if you read you know that I never combine fat and carb sources in the same meal, so peanut butter plus oats in the same shake isn’t going to be a part of my diet, ever.

Remember, each scoop of Pro Complete 40 has approximately 20g of protein and 1/2 scoop of oats has roughly 30g of carbohydrates. So adjust accordingly based on the amounts you need at the time of day you need it.

Enjoy!

Service is an Obsession…

Posted in bodybuilding,General,Motivation,Nutrition,Personal Fitness Revolution,Personal Training,San Antonio Related by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 25th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

I know how individuals feel when starting their fitness training programs are selecting a personal trainer. It’s daunting, there is a lot of misleading and contradicting information out there, and due to past failures or mishaps, they’re a little gun-shy.

At my personal training studio, it’s so much more than just training you for an hour a few times per week – it’s as if you hire a 24/7 fitness and nutrition consultant. I actually WANT my clients to ask me everything and let me micromanage their transformation: from their nutrition and training, to their lifestyle transformation and every little factor.

There are a lot of people that workout several hours per week. Ever wonder why so few actually lose fat or change their bodies rapidly? Quite simply because 3-4 hours in the gym per week are only a small part of the 168 total hours in a given week: how much one changes totally depends on what they do the other 164-165 hours in the week, week after week, month after month. It isn’t easy – it takes discipline and consistency.

I respect each and every client’s time and value their decision to use me. I also look at every client as a means of advertisement, because simply put, I do not pay for advertising. I know that they’re going to tell their friends, co-workers and family about hiring a personal trainer, and that those people are going to be watching very closely.

What I do is a 24 hour per day job. If I’m not training in my studio, I’m answering emails, texts, phone calls or writing here on this blog. You know what? I wouldn’t have it any other way. I want it evident to everyone that comes in contact with me or across this blog that I live this lifestyle and embrace the responsibility of being relied on by each and every client.

There are several sub-par personal trainers in San Antonio, so if you don’t want to settle, it is up to you.

When I wake up in the morning for cardio, it will be only 26 days until my bodybuilding show and I’m ready to attack it the only way I know how – wide open, with everything I have.

Have a great Monday and a great week! Let nothing stop you in any way!

San Antonio Fitness Boot Camp Starts Monday October 26

Posted in General,Other,Personal Fitness Revolution,Personal Training,San Antonio Related,Training by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 25th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

Are you looking for a different way to make a drastic change in your body? Are you tired of the monotony of counting reps and weights inside a typical gym? We have the program for you!

During boot camp, we cover every fitness component from cardio endurance, strength training, agility, balance and flexibility. Boot camp will be offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:15pm at our personal training studio located at 16613 Huebner Road in San Antonio. We are also offering 3 other classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 630am, and a Saturday class (time to be determined ASAP). Each class will last one hour.

What makes us different than other Boot Camp Fitness Programs in San Antonio? Our experience says it all – combined, we have over 17 years military experience and have actually lived the real boot camp experience. Throw in our extensive personal training experience and you have the perfect recipe for a rapid change in your body.

We are using the term “Boot Camp” for a few reasons. First off, just like military boot camps, our fitness boot camps are designed to quickly re-shape your body in minimal time. These aren’t typical training sessions; they are intense and are designed to quickly whip people into shape! Maybe you’re tired of training at your normal pace (and tired of thinking!) and you just need to get back to the basics of fitness: hard work and consistency. That is what boot camp is all about.

During boot camp, you become part of a team! Not only is this helpful for accountability purposes, but it will also develop a sense of camaraderie and encouragement system to ensure your success.

Boot camp is not for the meek! It is anything but easy, but if you’re ready to get serious about training and changing your body in a short amount of time then boot camp fitness training is for you!

Who is boot camp for? Anyone that is ready to dedicate at least 3 days per week to start changing their body! There will be individuals with varying fitness levels, and they will all be thoroughly challenged! Male, female, young or old – it does not matter!

For those who want to get the absolute most out of their boot camp training program, nutritional guidance will also be included. Each diet will be designed from scratch, designed for your vigorous training program and lifestyle.

At only $20 per person, per session now you can afford to get fit.

But I Want to Live!

Posted in bodybuilding,General,Motivation by sanantoniopersonaltrainer on the October 25th, 2009

Hey San Antonio,

I’m relaxing watching football after watching “Where the Wild Things Are” at the IMAX with my little boy and then enjoying smoked turkey at County Line BBQ. And I’m only 27 days out of the Lackland Classic. IMO, I’m “living” just fine.

For those who view living as happy hour, eating trash, getting smashed and sleeping until 2pm on Sunday? Stop being so pressured by social influence. Living is making time to spend with those you love, feeling great, working hard and seeing the benefits in the mirror.

If you aren’t happy with yourself, you cannot be happy, period. The change has to happen within – make the decision, and learn how to really “LIVE”.

It’s cardio session number 2 time. Just counting down the days now!
